Happy birthday to Professor Wole Soyinka as he clocks 75 today! Kongi is not only a writer but a freedom fighter and cultural hero who won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1986.
We love his works for many reasons, but we love him more...There are several events organised to commemorate his birth, so we thought we should ask you: which of Soyinka's works do you find most remarkable? What strikes you most about WS? Do you have any personal experience with him? Then share with us....
A man of substance...he has come a long way....
ReplyDeleteI could never recover from The Lion and the Jewel, although I find The Interpreters to be intriguing. I love the memoirs too, but what stands out is how Soyinka the man has remained true to issues of human rights.
ReplyDeleteWe bring you greetings from the lecture in honour of Wole Soyinka that held at Muson Centre. One lesson for all: there is a little of Soyinka in everyone and if we put it to positive use, our societ(ies) would be better for it! We celebrate his life, not only because he wrote or spoke but because he lived what he wrote and spoke...
